After making two reaction lows, LCA-Vision (NAS:LCAV) is moving toward the lower horizontal line to retest support at $41/share. In today’s trading session we should watch to see if the stock moves below this level, on increased selling pressure. If this occurs, LCAV may be an excellent intraday or short-term shorting opportunity.

Varian Medical Systems (NY:VAR) has moved lower in three consecutive sessions, forming what seems to be another downtrend. In the previous sell off, shares of Varian declined in eleven consecutive sessions after it lifted off of its 52-week low. After waiting for the third red-bodied candlestick, I’m now confident in shorting into the downtrend. The [...]

These are testy times on Wall St. The recent market turmoil should remind investors of all kinds that risk assessment should be a top priority when managing their portfolios. Even if you personally do not manage your money, you can direct those who do simply by stating what you feel comfortable being in at the [...]

How would you reward a company whose earnings, revenue and margins experienced double-digit gains? If you were a current shareholder of H&E Equipment (NAS:HEES), I bet you sold the stock. In the company’s most recent earnings report on March 15th, 4th quarter profit rose by 40 percent, while rental equipment and new sales were up [...]

Amdocs (NY:DOX) has been moving higher off last week’s upgrade from Goldman Sachs, albeit on much lower volume (that’s an ideal scenario.) As the stock approaches resistance at $36, look for volume to expand and push the price above that level. The low point of the trend to the breakout is $3.10, giving us a [...]

Today after the close of the bell Oracle (NAS:ORCL) reports earnings. Forecasters expect the software giant to report EPS of .23/share on revenue of $4.33 billion. However Wall St. will really zero in on their license sales, a key software metric. Analysts expect that number to come in around $920 million. Software license growth would [...]

You will never see me buy a stock solely on the recommendation of an analyst. There’s a lot of research that goes into every trade, especially on tech companies. Sandisk (NAS:SNDK) has made several runs toward its 50-day SMA, and finally the stock is trading above that resistance level. Take a look at the six-month [...]

I have been following a trend on Garmin (NAS:GRMN) for quite some time, and began aggressively trading the stock in recent weeks. In the chart below, you will see how the stock has been bouncing off of the lower support channel, and moving two points above the previous top. After forming a new high in [...]

After IMAX Corp. (NAS:IMAX) came out late last summer saying the company was no longer for sale, shares of the big screen movie and equipment maker have fallen roughly 50% from their highs; this after a mere 40% run-up from its lows of around $3.40/share. With the current share price hovering around $5/share, is this [...]

Not taking into account the buyouts of TXU and Dollar General, private equity activity has been rather slow in 2007 compared to the first few months of 2006. Are the M&A mega deals going out of favor? Not a chance! Do not think for a minute that these private equity firms have finished making deals. [...]
